MEDIAN
First you take the numbers
Order them-in a row.
When you get ‘em there,
You're ready to go!
I said....ready to go!
First you cross off .......the left,
Then you cross off........the right!
Next you cross off ........the left,
Then you cross off ..........the right!
When you ‘hit’ the-middle,
Then you’re done with the fight!
Buuuuut-If-you've got two-numbers,
Then....here's what you do…
Add ‘em together,
And divide it by two!
I said, divide it by two!

ROUNDING JAM
Say Yo! Say Yo Yo, Yo! Say Yo!!
When you gotta round numbers and you’re in a jam
Just listen to this song and I’ll give you a hand!
You just slip to the side,
and you look for a five.
You just slip to the side,
and you look for a five.
Say Yo! Say Yo Yo, Yo! Say Yo!!
Well if the number that you see is a five or more,
You gotta round up now, that’s for sure.
If the number that you see is a four or less,
You gotta stay the same to avoid a mess.
Say Yo! Say Yo Yo, Yo! Say Yo!!

ROUNDING
Rounding numbers
it’s a blast,
We can do it
mighty-fast!
Find the number-place asked for
look to the right is it 0-4?
If the answer is yes
it just stays there
if the answer is no kick it in the air!
UP ONE! TO THE NEXT! UP ONE...MOVE UP!
All the numbers-to the right
are big but lose the fight
change ‘em all to zero
but that’s all right!
All right!
that’s all right, all right!

ROUNDING IF YOU KNOW IT!
Sung to:
If You’re Happy and You Know It”
If it’s big, 5 through 9, go up, it’s fine!
If it’s small, 0 through 4, stop, no more!
Whether the number made a change
or the number stayed the same,
put zeroes to the right down the line!

POLYGONS
I tell you girls...............I tell you boys,
We're gonna stand up, and make some noise,
Gonna name the polygons you need to know.
So, get on your feet...COME ON, LET'S GO!
A three-sided shape is a...triangle,
A four-sided shape...a quadrilateral.
A five-sided shape is a...pentagon,
And now you know those, so...LET'S MOVE ON!
A six-sided shape is a...hexagon,
A seven-sided shape is a...heptagon,
An eight-sided shape is an...octagon...
And now you know those, so...LET'S MOVE ON!
A nine-sided shape is a...nonagon,
A ten-sided shape is a...decagon.
Those are the names of some polygons,
Let's do 'em again...AND THEN MOVE ON!

ANGLES
I'm “acute” little angle
As cute as can be!
I'm “obtuse” - I'm BIG,
So, don't mess with me!
I'm right, I’m 90,
Perfect as can be!
I make a perfect L…
No one does it like me!
Uh-huh…I'm right!
Uh-huh…I'm right!

PERIMETER
Sung to:
The More We Get Together
When you neeeed to find perimeter, perimeter, perimeter
When you neeeed to find perimeter,
Well, here’s what you do:
First you’ll measure all sides
all those sides you’ll add up
Make sure you don’t forget one
or it will be wrong.
Noooow you need to label
to label, to label
So noooow you need to label
the unit you used.

AREA
Sung to: Mary Had A Little Lamb
Area is the inside
the inside
the inside
Area is the inside
Just measure length and width.
When you have the length measured, width measured, both measured, when you have two sides measured you multiply them both.
Then you need to label it, label it, label it.
Then you need to label it with your unit squared.

VOLUME
Sung to: Row Row Row Your Boat
Volume is inside
filled up to the top.
You measure three sides from one vertex
then multiply and stop.
La-bel it with cubed
because you used three sides.
You-must make sure you do all this
‘cause you need to know the size.

TRANSFORMATIONS
It’s a turn-a...rotation
It’s a slide-a...translation
It’s a flip-a...reflection
It’s a trans-for-ma-tion...
...not an aggravation...just a cel-e-bra-tion!
So slide to the side, turn around right, flip upside down and make it oh so right...
It’s a turn-a...rotation
It’s a slide-a...translation
It’s a flip-a...reflection
It’s a trans-for-ma-tion

MEASUREMENT SONG
Numbers tell the story of how much...how long...how far
No matter where you go you’ll know just where...you are
12 inches to one foot and there are 3 feet to one yard
Once you know these measurements, it’s really not so hard
If I tell you that at 2 you’re 30 inches tall
You will know how big you were, it’s measured on the wall
Six inches less a yard and 9 below a meter
Pretty soon you’ll become a measurement reader
If your mother wants to make a cold cherry torte
2 cups equal just one pint, and 4 cups equal a quart
3 teaspoons to one tablespoon, 8 ounces in one cup
now you have dessert and you can eat it all up
When you have a taste for milk, after cherry torte,
go and grab a gallon, but that’s really 4 quarts.
half pint equals one cup which is what you get at lunch
I bet you get this measurement stuff, it’s really not a hunch
When you walk around a field you feel kinda tired
you’ve walked five two eighty feet (5280) and that’s just a mile
when you pick a pound of rocks, that's really not a lot
16 ounces also is the weight of what you’ve got
Using numbers scientists keep track of all they do
They write it down, and soon they’ve found they’ve learned a thing or two
12 inches to a foot, and there are 3 feet to one yard
Once you know these measurements, it’s really not so hard

TIME CHANT
Time, time, we tell time,
How many ways do we tell time?
Sixty seconds in one minute
You can tie your shoes in it
60 minutes in one hour
Go for a walk and pick some flowers
24 hours in one day
Time for school, sleep meals and play
7 days in one week
Time full of school and the weekends to sleep
About 30 days in one month
The moon orbits ‘round the earth just once
About 4 weeks in one month, too
I’ll turn the calendar page for you
12 months in one year
Blow out the candles on your birthday dear
52 weeks in one year
Time for the seasons to pass, it’s clear
365 days in a year
Looks like the end is finally here!

MULTIPLES SONG
(Tune of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”
Written by Joann Barnett)
I’ve been looking for some mul-tiples
All the live long day
Multiples go on forever
To infinity they say.
Listing multiples of numbers
Requires that you multiply
Keep multiplying by a number.
Now we’ll let you try.
The number times a one,
The number times a two,
The number times a three, and four and five.
The number times a six,
The number times a seven,
The multiple is always biiiigger!.

FACTOR SONG
Sung to: Frere Jaques
Factors, factors factors, factors
What are you? What are you?
You are what goes into
another number equally
you are smaller than the number
Now let’s find the factors of a number.
There are just a few, there are just a few
factor times a factor gives the original number
each small pair is a set of factors

CLOUDS
sung to: Twinkle Twinkle Little star
There are many clouds out there
that fill up full with cold-moist air
Up above the world so high
like some cotton in the sky
you are formed from water drops
Then your rain falls down in glops
There are many names for you
to tell you-apart in skies so blue.
Cumulus is so-fluffy
and Stratus is a layer you see
Cirrus whispy, sky is blue
with lots of clouds the whole year through.
Clouds up there are so pret-ty they make the world so nice to see.

WATER CYCLE
Sung to
She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain When She Comes
Water travels in a cycle, yes it does
Water travels in a cycle, yes it does
It goes up as evaporation
Forms clouds from condensation
Then comes down as precipitation, yes it does!
ISAT SONG
sung to ‘Row Row Row Your Boat’
ISAT ISAT test has finally come
we need to study
for science, math and reading oh how fun
we need to eat and sleep
and try to get good grades
it will help us all a lot
if we concentrate.
use your re-sources
don't rely on your head
use your pencil, paper and songs
to help you get ahead
keep it nice and quiet
so all can concentrate
if we follow all these rules
we really will do great!
